I am on my feet majority of my 12 hour shift and I'm always in search of the perfect shoe. This Keen Asheville shoe fits true to size and didn't need to break in. I love the bungee lace feature. I don't have to worry about shoe laces undone when I have to run for certain events on the job. If you're not fond of the bungee lace, an extra pair of regular shoe lace is provided with the product. The only con I have found so far on this shoe is that the tongue seems to be a bit longer than any of all my shoes. The tongue irritates my anterior ankle if I wear low cut/no show socks. I remedy it by pulling the tongue away from my ankle causing it to bunch up a bit at the bottom eyelet level. The bunched up tongue doesn't bother my feet at all. The other con I can find is that, this shoe is not ventilated as it is not made of mesh which is as it should be being a shoe designed for industrial use. I probably won't be wearing this shoe during summer time.I bought 'Keen Utility Women's Asheville AT Esd Industrial and Construction Shoe' in December 2018. It seemed like a great price for a Keen shoe and I've been wanting something with a protective toe, so I ordered some, but these were not comfortable enough for me. They were very stiff and a little large in and around the toe box due to the composite toe (normal for protective toes, if I remember correctly), but the stiffness seemed excessively uncomfortable on the tops of my feet when walking, so I returned them. They did seem like good quality. The rubber sole is pretty thick, the whole shoe was a bit heavy, and the uppers have the usual sneaker mesh material for breathability, so take notice of all of that.I like the feel and weight of this product with the exception of absolutely no arch support. I bought them because I'm a production operator that deals with PCB boards and components and that requires ESD protection. The first few months went by fine, passed my ESD checks every day every time no problem. However, that has not been the case this month. I've failed the test several mornings now, and the shoes are only 5 months old....I really liked these shoes and thought they were fitting great and attributed my extreme pain and discomfort to yet another foot problem. Even spent money on a Dr apt to try and diagnose the symptoms. Turns out it was the new shoes causing an undefined pressure point that inflamed a nerve. So i had to return them and luckily i brought an extra pair of shoes to work after the third day of suffering to the point of tears. I thought i was going to be forced to quick my job!!! I’m sad that I still don’t know what the defect of the shoe actually is. My suggestion is to use amazon’s closet to try before making a commitment.I run through a lot of shoes working in a hospital. I need something sturdy and made to last. So far, these fit the bill. They are very comfy to be on my feet in for an 8 hour shift. (Although, when I get home, I take them off right away, but who wants to stay in ANY shoe all day). The sole is very soft yet sturdy...and quiet...I feel like a ninja! I was wearing the Keen Presidio for quite a few years, but they have seemed to decline in wear more quickly than before. The bungee laces on these are great for my high arch. The steel toe is an added bonus for me, not a requirement, and they don't cramp my toes. I may try the other color that's available!(Every time I find a comfortable, affordable, steel-toed, show in women's 7.5, it disappears.)These are comfortable, light (within reason), and I've been asked where I got the nice shoes. I don't know if they'd work for standing 8 hours, but I have walked, climbed (and carried) ladders, and squatted with no discomfort.I really wanted to like these shoes, I have had two other pairs of Keen shoes that have been more than awesome. Somehow these fell short. I purchased these because I work in a hospital and am on my feet all day so I wanted something that was stylish and comfortable. Upon unboxing I was very disappointed in the style, I can't really describe these shoes as anything other than unattractive. I put them back in the box and left them overnight, hoping I would change my mind the next day. Perhaps I was judging them too harshly? The next day I opened the box trying to have an open mind... still thought they were ugly. Maybe what they lack in asthetics they would make up in comfort and wear-ability? So I gave them a go and tried them on. I noticed the steel toe caps were rubbing against the sides of my feet when I flexed the shoes. Maybe I'm over sensitive here but if it was noticeable right out of the box it wasn't going to get better over time. I decided to return these. I still love the Keen brand though and am planning to purchase more Keen shoes in the future.
